Our History

Naya may be a new name on North Audley Street, yet its craft is shaped by an inheritance measured not in seasons, but in 4 generations. The proprietors of Naya come from the Ayan family, whose culinary lineage extends through Pelit, the celebrated family company long regarded as a benchmark for classic pâtisserie in Türkiye. At the heart of that tradition stands the family’s legendary figure, Chef Selahattin Ayan, the grandfather of Naya’s proprietors, whose discipline, exacting standards, and devotion to quality helped form the character of a craft passed carefully from one generation to the next. Naya brings this legacy into the present with a contemporary expression, while remaining faithful to the principles that made the family name endure.

In the United Kingdom, where heritage is not performed but lived, Naya finds a natural point of resonance. Few institutions speak more clearly to continuity, duty, and enduring standards than the Royal Family. The late Queen Elizabeth II remains an emblem of constancy and grace, a lifetime of service that set a benchmark for modern leadership. Under King Charles III, that same devotion to responsibility carries forward with renewed purpose and a thoughtful sense of stewardship. Drawing on recipes and techniques passed down through their family’s Turkish chocolatier roots, Naya reinterprets heritage with contemporary elegance.

Under the creative direction of India Hicks and Anna Goulandris, every corner of our interior is designed to feel both intimate and grand — hand-painted walls, a central tree, plush textures, and thoughtful, unexpected touches throughout.
